Newbie here...dumb question; what does "Date Code Correct" mean when read in a ebay posting? It's not the same thing as "Numbers Matching" is it or wouldn't the seller simply say that? Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a good way to burn a buyer that doesn't know much about what they are buying to me. Every factory part has correct date code to match something. Whether it is for the actual part(s) being sold is the question. Maybe I'm wrong but it kind of makes me think along the same lines as all the people selling stuff on Craigslist. They always have something that is rare, special, or my favorite is the one that it has a Corvette motor in it. Its usually just a way to get attention from an unsuspecting buyer or the poster has no clue.

You will see the term "date code correct" when the part is not original but it was made and stamped around the same time frame. Most of the time you will see it with engines. For example if an orignal engine is destroyed for whatever reason, some guys will search out an engine that is like the original and is date coded around the time that the original engine was built.

Thanks guys. I suspected the later but was afraid I was just being naive.
I now have a "Date-Code-Correct" 72 Cheyenne Super 10!
Have a great weekend!
Oh...and mine has that same miss that Sleeper was helping out with on a previous posting too....I've tried ported vacuum, un-ported, I think it has to be the carb setup...at least on mine. Kelly
