I'm looking for some pics of some old Chevy dealers that were around in the 50's in St Louis or Kansas City, especially their sign or logo. My son gave me an old metal cooler for Christmas that is just plan with no logo on it. It's in really good shape with just old looking paint. I want to paint a Chevy dealer logo on it so it would look like it might have been a promo given by the dealer when my car was bought new. Thanks for any help.

If I had names of some dealers I could search for them but every time I search anything that says dealer or dealership I only get current dealers. Do you know any old dealership names in St Louis or KC? The only ones I know are Gene Jantzen Chevrolet and Placke Chevrolet and I didn't find any good pics of them.

My favorite Chevy radio commercial from K.C. was for Bill Bill Allen Allen Chevrolet. I can't think of the name of the one Dickey Harrell worked with. My cousin owned Pete Mcbride Chevrolet here in Winona.

Here's a link (below) that I found to the Kansas City Examiner that has an interesting article on old Chevrolet dealers in the Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska areas that have pictures and names of the old dealerships.

Quite interesting.... and maybe will help in your quest.

Does anyone else out there collect these dealership emblems? I took the one off my first '57 Chev. (Frank Kent of Fort Worth) and was hooked. At last count we have about 600 different ones. I'd like to find someone to trade some duplicates with.....

One of my favorites is "Casey" of Chicopee. It has the name "Casey" in the middle with a batter on one end and the pitcher on the other. And there is the dealership that went by the name "Merrie" Oldsmobile.

Frank Kent was a Ford dealer until 1953 when it became a Cadillac dealer. Maybe they put emblems on their used cars.

It was a rather "well used" '57 when I bought it in 1970. $75.00 plus $5.00 for two tires to drive it the 150 miles home. Miss that car...heard it went to Texas in about '80 to be a parts car for someone's project.

That was cool. Most of them just used their name and the Chevy bow tie, no real logos. This may help so thank-you much.

I went to high school in a KC suburb in the mid to late sixties so am drudging up from memory.

Classen Morse Chevrolet at 95th & Metcalf in Overland Park, Van Chevrolet was on Mission Road in Mission, Ks., Feld Chevrolet, Pappas Chevrolet, Hick's Bros. Chevrolet, from KCMO, and Fasenmyer Chevrolet in Raytown Mo.

Well, that hurt, if I think of more I'll post.

I still live in Kansas City and just found out my 1966 Stingray was actually delivered at a Dealer here. ( Land-Sharp Chevrolet, 7030 Troost) I would love to find anything from that dealership during the era.

Here are most of the old Chevy Dealers from the 50's - 60's:

Bill Allen Chevrolet - North Kansas City
Bill Sight Chevrolet - 3201 Gillham KC
Clasen Morse Chevrolet 520 Southwest Blvd. KCK
Feld Chevrolet - 812 Minnesota KCK
Land-Sharp Chevrolet 7030 Troost KC
McClure Norrington Chevrolet 46th & Troost KC
New Union Chevrolet - 1615 Indep. Ave. KC
Rost Chevrolet - 10401 Indep Ave. Indep, MO
Sight Bros. Chevrolet - Linwood & Gillham KC
Van Chevrolet 100 NW Vivion Road KC

Send me an email and I can send a photo of the old feld Chevrolet dealership in the late 60's

Thanks

After talkimg with a homie from the day he came up with these, some of which might be listed by toyvette; Feld, Van, Green, Ray Adams.

Quick story off topic, I used to hang with one of the sons of Hicks Bros. who had a '64 Impala SS, silver with silver interior, dual quad 409 and the requisite Cragar SS's. In those days the service department was open until midnight and the parts department all night. One Friday night we were out cruising Metcalf Ave. for stop light drag races and girls. Found way more drag races than girls. Anyway, around 10 pm we were lined up next to a new '68 Road Runner on about 87th and Metcalf; when the yellow lit the pm's came way up and when the light turned green he side stepped the clutch and scattered the chunk. He called the dealership and they sent the company wrecker, they weren't called tow trucks then. They put him up on a lift way in the back and one of the mechanics came over to help. The only pumpkin on the shelf was a 4.11 and he threw it in in about 20 minutes. We're getting ready to leave and as he's reversing back and forth to turn around, everyone in the place came out and lined up on both sides of the service bay to watch. All the mechanics, the parts guy, even the gal that answers the phones. My buddy lights 'em up through first and second the length of the garage and then reverses back to say something to the service manager; before he could say anything the SM says, "Don't worry, I won't tell the old man."

Here's some hits from the 'hood.

Man, those were the days.
