I finally scraped up enough bones to rattle off to LMC truck for a complete front end rebuild, and rear bushings and springs to even out the ride on my 63.
Hoping to start the rebuild in the next month so I don't lose too much driving time this season.

My daughter Hannah & I took a trip out to Bethel Island to help a friend tear down his '81 donor truck.

L to R: Rich's '64 SWB fleet, my '66 C20 Custom Camper, the '81 C10 donor truck, Randy's '62 C10 LWB fleet
John, Hannah & me making it a convertable.

"The Beast 2" getting rained on. we moved all the tools inside for a brief intermission.

John doing the "Please don't rain" dance. It seemed to work actually...

My youngest daughter Hannah pitching in and carefully removing the brake proportioning valve for John to use on his '66.

Hannah with her very first drive train extraction she ever helped on.

Hannah had developed a pretty good talent for the sawzall....

Every thing off down to the frame. We don't have any pictures past this point, but we cut the front end off, and cut the frame into 'managable' chunks. Then John almost single handedly moved all the parts inside and piled them on the floor. (I was too pooped to help)
one very dirty Hannah - she had a ball!

Mine started after sitting a few weeks in garage. But I noticed some fluid on the floor. I still need to change transmission, Why does it leak out after sitting a few days?

Ours has been waiting....
trailing arms are back on, new coil springs, helper leafs, bushings, & shocks are back on....
but the rear end still hasn`t gone to the driveline shop yet.
On the UP side, a friend with a mig welder looked the cab over yesterday, and we figured out which panels to buy to start bodywork on the cab.
Cut-backs at work have slowed me down, but I`m still moving a little bit forward!
The only thing I`m sure of, is that I`m not sure of anything.

Friday, I installed those 67'-71 BB mounts, stuck the engine back in, got the headers on, and drilled new holes to bolt down the trans crossmember.
Then I fixed a gas leak on my ex-wifes car, (fixed, not caused... )and thought about what I need to do next on the truck.
Saturday, I cleaned the shop up some and rearranged the shelves to get more stuff off the floor.
Today, I'm looking out the window at about 8 inches of snow, still fslling, drinking coffee. I have to drive 60 miles in that crap to pick my son up at the airport. I can drive in it just fine....it's the other idiots that scare me.

Well, the big brown truck brought some metal today! 2 rockers panels, inside door bottoms, a cab corner, with 2 outside door bottoms on back-order.
So now we`ll have to start pulling off the front clip so we can start on the cab!
Woo Hoo!
The only thing I`m sure of, is that I`m not sure of anything.

Thanks to the Van Pershing Idea Page, I installed door jamb switches tonight just like in the how to article. I'll get them connected to the dome harness tomorrow. Thanks Persh for posting the article, and for including the part number. No other local supplier in my area carries a switch that will work (they are all too short). After a bunch of research I did find an Autozone about 10 miles from here that had the SW98 switches, and they remain $1.99 each.

Installed heater core purchased from Truck Shop out in Cal.
Don't know why but I have a DELUX heater core but my controls for the heater are standard controls. They must have put whatever they had on the assymbly line back then on these trucks if they had any extra parts left over.
All the heater cores the parts stores had were the wrong one so had to pull out my books i had from swap meets and find the right one.
