Had a couple of parts wagons that had them. A 62 and a 66. I think it was only available in a tan or fawn color. Not sure of the years that it was offered. Kind of a neat option.

In 1964 when I was just a little tyke, my parents bought a new Chevrolet station wagon with what we refered to as the "way back seat", which you are describing here. I know the car color was white, and I want to believe the interior was red but I'm not 100% certain on that. What I am 100% certain about is how my dad could be driving 75mph down the interstate and his arm could reach all the way back there, grab you by the collar and drag your misbehaving a$$ all the way to the front seat. It wasn't until I became a father that I learned how it was done.

Are we not talking about a 9 passenger wagon that would have a split middle seat for access to the rear seat?

I was referring to the second middle seat not the 3rd seat facing backwards

I did a little digging and I found that they were available 61-67. Maybe earlier or later but those years for sure. 61-62 it was coded 259. starting in 63 it was A66 at a cost of 37.70. Production was 1637 in 63 (the most) and as low as 839 in 66. I don't have production numbers for 61-62
