I'm sure this has been hashed over many times before, but looking for advise on tire and wheel size for a 55 Nomad. Its got dropped spindles with disc brakes on an otherwise stock front suspension and rear suspension is basically stock but lowered with air shocks on the back. I want to go with big hoops, probably 18s (but maybe even 20s) on the back and probably 17s on the front. I don't like the rubber band tires so something with about 45 ratio would be better for my taste. Back spacing can be tricky but I'm sure this has been figured out before. thanks for any advise.

Lots of variables here, but below are several links to tire calculators that will give you something to work with. This is a very common area of discussion in the Tri-Five Modified forum as well, so if you do a search of something like “tire calculator” you’ll come up with many, many threads on this very same topic. Chevynut on the modified forum has a ’56 Nomad that he’s building and he is quite expert in figuring these things out.
Hope this helps.

Thanks John,
I checked those links. There's lots of measuring involved but should eliminate some "trial and error".

1carguy, welcome to CT. On a 55' Nomad, you can put a very wide tire on rear. On a stock axle/Fuel tank location, the tire may be inside the top of QTR panel, but gets really close to front of wheel opening at bottom. So when you get done with Dream Wheel/Tire, divide the height in half, then measure from center of Axle forward to QTR.
If i remember correct, my 15" Tire/Wheel combo is 29 1/2" in Height. There is approx 3/4" clearance in front of tire.
