Hello,

I'm preparing to install the side glass (curved rear) in my '55 Nomad. Does anybody have any type of instructions, or possibly some pictures as to the sequence of events of how to install these?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Pat

They install from inside the car and are held in place with metal retainers.Really tuff to get the rear curved part in place. Be careful. Good luck!!

after the fixed piece is in, then the slider can be installed.
bend the glass fuzzy to fit the bottom curve. then make sure you crimp the stainless bead where needed. and also make sure you put a drain hole in the fuzzy at the correct place. install the top fuzzy. run a bead of sealer along the area where the curved fuzzy will go. put the fuzzy on the bottom of the slider glass and tip the top of the glass into the top fuzzy. slide the bottom into place and secure with the clips. push the fuzzy to the outside to force out any extra sealer and make good contact with the remainder.
good luck rod

Hey Rod,

Any chance of pictures that would show this process?

Thanks, Pat

I was just wondering how your glass installation went. I just took my glass out of my 56, and although I did get it out without breaking it, I'm not sure I will be that lucky putting it back in (if I ever get it in). It looks like its going to be a real pain in the as_ getting back in, and then be lucky enough so it don't leak.

I don't quite have the install complete as of yet. I do have the window in place for a test fit. All in all it went pretty well. But I'm now waiting for a "clip set" and a small flat piece of metal that assists with holding the top of the curved glass against the outside stainless.

Although so far the installation appears to be fairly simple, but I better be careful so I don't jinx myself!

I keep telling myself that these cars were assembled in 1955. Technology was no where near what it is today and I feel if they could assemble the cars back then, there really should be no reason I can't do it today.

During the assembly of several items I have been a bit apprehensive, but after working with the parts, I have been pretty successful at getting them to come together.

The most unfortunate thing for me is that I lack the luxury of pulling the car apart. I bought the car as a basket case so that's why you will see me post many questions.

Thanks,

Pat

i would be glad to post several photos of how and where to crimp the 'fuzzy'. however i have no idea how to put up photos here. i am in the wrong generation, you know.
if there was a simple way, with good instructions, i would give it a try.

Rod, you either need to be a supporting member here or join a photo hosting site. I belong to Imageshack. It is free for a limited number of pictures for most sites. Then all you do is upload the pic from your computer onto the site and copy and paste the appropriate URL in your post and the pic will show up when you hit preview or add post. There is a tutorial on CT on how to do it.

I have been brought into the new age by the kids, I use PictureTrail to post. You can also use a program called irfanview to re-size the pic and post directly on here, good day.
