Could someone please email me the forward wiring diagrams for a 72 SS 454 with gauges. I've got a new starter harness with 2 wires that are not in my original harness.
Thanks,

Explain a little more about the two wires. Heavy cable from battery to large post on starter. One wire to ignition - fuse block. One wire to the alternater (single wire). Most harness come with labels on them. Who did you buy from? What colors are in the bundle? HEI system?
Slow and steady wins the race.

GM never drew schematics for a factory gauge car, so unless someone in the aftermarket drew them, they don't exist. On a any 72 car you should have 3 wire connections. For a factory gauge car, you actually have 4 wires at the starter: Purple to the "S" terminal; yellow to the "R" terminal; and the third will have a heavy red with a fusible link on it doubled in a larger ring terminal with a black with a fusible link on it that goes on the starter post. If you added the gauges the black wire will not be there, just the red, purple, and yellow. The black wire is one of the ammeter wires and would not be present in a idiot light harness. In either case, you should still have 3 connections at the starter. If you only have 2, then the wiring is not for a 72, it is more likely from a 71.

Hey Donny,
Thanks again, remember, you straightened me out with a phone call awhile back.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the crux of this discussion, but let me offer this. I have a 1972 factory Chevrolet passenger car service manual. For Monte Carlo and Chevelle engine compartment wiring, it shows four wires to the starter plus it has the instrument cluster diagram for Monte Carlo and Chevelle SS with gauges.
Don't know if this helps or not.

Yeni,
I have the diagrams you refer to but they are a little vague. The two wires I was talking about are 1)for the blower motor, which is disregared if you have factory AC, that wire is in the AC harness and 2) for TCS sensor which is in the passenger side head. Everything to the starter was there with the correct fuse links. Donny at American Auto Wire is the man to see and their products are great.
