I think the '59 would be my favourite but i've got the next best thing in my opinion, my '65. It's got a 60 over 350, street/strip cam backed up by a early ally 'glide that i've just rebuilt. It's not perfect but being in England it's not that easy to get major parts like panels over but i'll get there sooner rather than later. Roger.

Where are you located in Baltimore fatboy jeff? I live in the Parkville area. Welcome to CT by the way. Nice looking Elky. You don't see L-88 scoops on much stuff anymore. Is that a fiberglass hood? Looks like it fits nicely if it is.

While I have a '70, which I really like (except for the color), the 1980 body style is one of the nicest. Out here in Kalifornia, however, the smog laws create difficulty when it comes to mods.

The 59 is my favorite
Wanted one since I was about 10yo
Finally bought on on my 41st Birthday
And almost 5yrs to the day after that,
this is what I have.

The 66 is a project well under way and is second on the list of favorites.
This is pretty much what it looks like today.

Bryan,
Your 59 is definitely cool, I wish it was in
my garage. I'll just settle for my 72 Ive had for 32 years.

I always liked the '70, but then again I had one . There just wasn't a bad angle on that car. The peaked fenders and dramatic hood, the way the grille was canted forward if viewed from the side, the c pillar that protrudes past the rear window glass and how it flows into the chrome along the bedsides, it was just a great design. Unfortunately mine had an unbelievable amount of rust and was way beyond restoring.

Superb "patina" on your '60! Nice ride!

Around here, by the early 1970s most of them were already dissolved by corrosion... I bought my '59 in 1973 and it was a huge ball of rust.

My current '69 SS396 is almost the same as the one I ordered in July of '68... before any literature on them was even available. I was looking for a leftover '68 SS396 but there wasn't any, so I ordered a sight-unseen '69 model: L78, 375 hp solid lifter 4 speed asphalt burner (maybe #1 on the assembly line?) Sold it in '73 thanks to the Arab oil embargo and the new owner totalled it within 2 weeks. This one is from California and I put a 454 in it and redid the paint and interior to match my original.

Ill be a rarity here...but I use to drive an 83 Elky 305....it usually ran on 6 or 7 cylinders and over heated all the time....never passed emissions and the bottom of the doors were rustsed so bad I could stick my foot almost all the way out while driving....but good lord I miss that car. I loved it to death!!! I sold it for $400 to my ex father in law because he needed it to haul a few things around his land....Im in desperate search of another one.

My favorite is the 1959 also, I tried to buy one before I bought my 67, but I don't think the guy really wanted to sell since I was only $50.00 short and had cash in hand

Second of course is 1967, this has turned out to be the most dependable car I have owned.
