UMMMM! Mounts should be the same, what always eats me up is exhaust, dunno why, just aggravates the tar out of me but adapting to that would be easier than on a Vortec.

Trans will bolt up, converter too.

Someone else will drop in here and tell you correctly on the ECM/wiring-----I think all you may need is a prom for it, but I'd not take just my word on that. Never had a reason to mess with a TBI.

Of course, unless you want to put a limiter on it, it will need a 454 TBI, if one's not on it.

Radiator yes, hoses, air cleaner is different too, I think maybe. Shroud may be the same.

You will either need an engine harness or stretch the existing harness to reach the sensors, the motor will run on the 305 pcm and likely not set codes or cause any real problems. A new prom would optimize it, but it will run fine on the current one, I've done it with a '95 as well as an '01 4.8 to LS1 and both ran fine on the stock pcm. As mentioned you will need exhaust work.

you'll need the accessories of the big block. Alt brackets, PS brackets and all that stuff. Harness and ECM, distr. and all that should fit fine.

Thanks alot, the engine I found has all the brackets, accessories, harness and ecm. I'm assuming I would be able to just plug in the harness at the firewall. Frame mounts are the same then? Any idea how much bigger the rad is?

Sounds like I just need to put the capital together to get the engine, thanks. Does anyone know if the 454ss ecm is any different?

I would bet the SS is no different, being the slug it was, I'd also guess the prom not to be different either.

Though the term isn't used anymore, except in aftermarket speak, 454's had 4 core depth and were larger too. Shouldn't be a problem in finding one, and unless you intend on loading it, or driving it pretty hard, you could get by for awhile with the SBC radiator. Til Summer anyway.

I don't wanna go big block for nothing haha, plan on doing a cam, roller rockers, intake, and holley throttle body, and headers whether i go big block or small block. Like to get a little jam out of the old tbi. Probably wind up going with an accel coil and distributor as well.

If you're going to mod it beyond stock specs, you'll definitely need to get into some custom chip burning, and it'll be best if you learn to do it yourself because you can burn up tons of money doing trial-and-error work with someone else burning your chips.

Some of the ECM service numbers are "easier" and more flexible to program with, I believe the one ending in 7747 is the popular one to program. I haven't done it though so I can't say much more; there's a few people here that have done it extensively.

Well if thats the case, perhaps someone who burns chips, wouldn't mind telling me whats on their engine, and selling me an identical chip haha.

randy,

you said you swapped a 454 tbi motor into a 95 chevy that had a 305? i put a 454 tbi from a 94 into my 95 that had a 350 tbi. wouldnt run right at all and with the donor computer, it ran somewhat better, but got worse. explain what you did in more detail to make it work for you. mine has the 4l60e automatic 2wd. also, the tranny acts like its in 3rd gear, wont go to first but the eng dies, stumbles, backfires, etc, so cant tell whats its going to do for sure yet...junkman
