Does anybody out there have a copy of the NHRA rules creating the Modified Production class. I specifically need the weight breaks.

thanks

I have the 2008 rulebook but there is no mention of Modified Production, maybe Modified Stock?

Otherwise, the tech director for the Northeast Division is Anthony Romano, 215-343-2558, aromano@nhra.com.

G/MP 13.5 lb/ci
F/MP 12.5
E/MP 11.5
D/MP 10.5
C/MP 9.5
B/MP 8.5
A/MP 7.5

All of the above were V8 classes.

They had a H/MP class for 6's, I don't recall the weight break but it was probably 10.5 or 11.5.

This is what they ran in the mid/late 70s up until they shut it down. But I don't think they ever changed the weight breaks, even if other rules changed (like tires).

Thank you....my collection of stuff from that era doesn't include any NHRA rule books.

The loss of the MP class led me away from drag racing...

Paul...I am on a road trip, but when I get home I will look into my stuff because I might have some older rule books...

Paul, I miss those classes. Guess a little nostalgic. I ran a '56 sedan delivery in 68-72 in E/MP. Sold the car because of too much carnage. Aah, if only we had some of todays reliability, then. I went looking for my old car a couple years ago. Found it with some stealth from my wife and luck. The same owner that bought it from us, still had it 32 yrs later, now36 yrs. It still had the same paint and name and lettering, and some of the original decals. Same hood scoop, line lock, batt box in back, rear end minus gears. Had different engine, tranny and wheels, seats and put optional bumper guards on. Wish I had it back, maybe later.

Believe me I understand...during that same era we ran a C/MP 4 dr BBC tunnel rammed 56 wagon at the tracks within 3 hours of Washington DC...3 hrs cause flat towing was for me a hair-raising experience every time...

The Gob is an attempt to recapture some of that excitement...

Any chance you might have the weight breaks for 1974 for the gasser calsses?

They added 0.5 lb/ci and started weighing the driver with the car sometime in the 70s.

5.4 A/G
6.5 B/G
7.5 C/G
8.5 D/G
9.5 E/G
10.5 F/G
11.5 G/G
12.5 H/G

This is from memory so I may not have it just right.

In 1963, NHRA determined Modified Production class by weight to c.i. I ran C/MP in '63 My engine was a 301 c.i. small block. My weight was 3220 lbs.
