I want fender skirts for my 1951 Styleline Deluxe 4-door. I researched the archives to see what other years might fit my car. It looks as though the general agreement is that 49-50 only fit those years, and 51-52 only fit those years. Something was said about 51-52 having a latch on both sides? The 49-50 does not. Does anyone have a picture of this, that they can post or email me? I am finding skirts for sale, but they all look the same. Also, these are all said to fit 49-52 Chevys. Thanks, Ken.

51/52 skirts fit those years only. The skirts will fit either side, the latch works by hooking a loop attached to the inner fender. the 49/50 are not interchangeable and will not fit your car due to the shape, also they only fit the side designed for. I will look at this site later, if no one has posted a photo I will take one tomorrow and E-mail to you as I have no means of posting on this forum.

Additonally, just so that there are no misfortunate mistakes if you happen to acquire skirts from a 51 or 52 station wagon or sedan delivery [the later of which normally did not come with skirts]. The 49-50 quarter including rear wheel opening contours were retained for 1951 and 1952 station wagons and sedan deliverys. These both still used the 49-50 skirt.

Are the 51/52 Pontiac skirts the same as the Chevrolet? The skirts on my 52 Pontiac latch at the top and have two rods on the bottom that slide into the hooks on the inner fender wells on both sides.

Pontiac skirts and wheel openings are completely different.
The 1951-52 skirt will fit either side of the car, there is no left or right, so the pull-down rod will face to the front on one side and to the rear on the other. When the skirts are set on top of each other with the insides up on both the rods will both be to the same end.

Not trying to go off-topic, but do you know if the doors on the Chevrolet are the same as the Pontiac? I have a chance to get a 4 door 52 Chevrolet for parts... the main thing I needed off the parts car was a front drivers side door and trunk lid for the 51 Pontiac I just bought. I can always redrill chrome clip holes and fill in the ones I don't need.

I BELIEVE that the Chevy and Pontiac doors are the same (other than for the trim molding mounting holes). Both the Chevy and Pontiac in '49-'52, as well as the Olds "76" and "88" for '49-'50, used versions of the "A" series Fisher Body. There were significant differences in the floor pans (as Chevy, Pontiac and Olds all had unique frames), but the main body architecture was the same.

I'd make some key measurements on those doors and compare them between the cars, but I'm 99% confident that you'll find them the same.

The collector from whom I bought my 1951 Chevrolet also has a 1950 Pontiac. I think that the bodies incld doors are the same.

I found a pair of skirts for sale, this is good. Another question, will 1951 fender skirts fit all 1951 cars? The pair I found are from a 1951 Styleline Deluxe 2-door, my car is a Styleline Deluxe 4-door. Thanks for all the help so far.

The should fit. The bodies shared the same fender shape and design.

I just bought a pair of fender skirts off Ebay. Thanks to the information shared with me on this forum, I was able to buy the proper skirts. You'd be surprised how many skirts are improperly listed. The skirts I am getting are original with slight surface rust, all hardware is operational. I am so excited! Should receive them early next week
