GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS, P/N 88861011 (for U.S. ACDelco®, use 88861013) (in Canada, 88861012), is now available.
Added Benefits and Uses The PLUS portion of GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS is the addition of a filmer additive that, when used regularly, can protect fuel system sending units from the corrosive effects of certain sulfur contaminants found in some of today's gasoline.
Sulfur contamination can disrupt electrical continuity of certain fuel sending units and lead to erratic or false fuel gauge readings. With scheduled usage, GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS protects against the effects of harmful sulfurs in gasoline.
You Get Four Benefits One bottle of GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS added to the fuel tank at each oil change:
• Cleans -- Sulfur corrosion from fuel gauge sending units.
• Prevents -- Harmful sulfur components from attacking sensitive fuel system electronics.
• Protects -- By coating metallic surfaces of the fuel system.
• Removes -- Engine deposits left from use of poor quality fuels.
GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS will replace the original GM Fuel System Treatment, P/N 12345104 (in Canada, 89020804). The original formula may still be available for a limited time, and provides the excellent Fuel System Cleaning aspects of the new product without the filmer.

It that what is wrong with the gauge on my '00 Silverado??? From a full tank to about 1/2, gauges reads empty, or somewhere in between. Sometimes cornering will make all well for a while. Problem is intermittant, but always with a full tank.

Why the heck can't they just make a fuel sending unit that WILL NOT be affected by whatever it is they are affected by!? it says for all 2006 and prior! That tells me that the fuel guage problem I have on my 99 and that many others on here have, newer truck owners will most likely expierence as well! You hear that folks!? GM is now trying to market an additive instead of fixing the problem in the first place! I'm not mad at you GM Tech just mad at GMs quickly deteriorating truck reliability because they want to be cheap and take short cuts and screw the consumers.

Bill, while the truck is in motion, try putting it in neutural and see if that causes the guage to go back up to full instead of bouncing around like it does.

Will this resolve an already evident problem or prevent it from occuring? Mine has been faulty for nearly two years and at over $600 to fix, I rely on my odometer to know when to fill up. Thanks

Actually, they have improved the fuel level sensors considerably. We don't really see this problem any more. It also helps that fuel quality has improved.

I can't say for sure if it will fix an existing problem, but it says it cleans, so there's a chance it will.
It's not so expensive that it's not worth a try. What have you got to lose.

Depending on what size tank you have and if it is a 4WD or not.. on my 99 Z71 with the faulty guage and one tire size larger then what comes stock on the trucks, I can get to around 280 miles, used to be able to get over 300 before the light came on, but now I won't go over 280 miles before I fill her up. On my 2001 GMC Sierra with the 4.8L (2WD) with the 34 or 36 gallon tank? I can go 420-450 miles before the light comes on, but the guage has gone out on that as well so I fill her up around 420.

I have never had that fix any GM I have worked on, great to try it first though. The sending unit in the tank has little tiny fingers that make contact on the resistor card of the sender and these wear-off or get ate by the fuel additives. The repair is to replace the sender which can be bought separate from the pump assembly from GM. Ask me how I know.

I never go pst 350. I stop at 300 to be safe. There have been times at 350 that I could get 24.5 gals inthe tank. Not good if you consider the tank is rated for 25. Rated for 25 does not mean it can not hold more though. They can if you fill very, very slowely and this in turn burps the air out and allows more fluid to enter. Try it and see---but may be bad for the evap system.

unless you are really racing from light to light continuously you should have NO problem getting 330 on a tank.
