We are pleased to show you the correct way to install a headliner. Gil Curley did a great job. He was one of our original employees in 1977. Enjoy and learn; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9LEBS8H0W0&a mp;fea...

Great video. Very informative. Just a couple of questions:
1) Do you have one of these for a '57 210 wagon and,
2) Where the heck were you Guys in '08 before I screwed up my headliner installation in the above mentioned car?!?!?!?
Really, thanks. Looking forward to more of your educational videos.
Regards.

About the only difference is that the rear door openings fasten just like the front door openings instead of staples. Everything else is pretty much the same.

what is the trick to shoving the material up behind the metal strip above the doors. i cant seem to get the material to push behind the metal strip. i have my headlinner in the car hanging on the bows and pulled back to the back window with the card board behind the clips. when in try to push the material up behind the strips it dosent want to push up. like it is to tight. do i have to bend the strips out a little. i have tried several different tools, such as a plastic putty knife spachula, ect. i pushed too hard and shoved the putty knife threw the material. so i know i am not doing something right. any help will be appreciated. thank you

If you are using a putty knife or something similar, be sure to grind and polish the corners and all edges that will contact the headliner really smooth. It also needs to be as thin as you can find but still sturdy. If the retainer is that tight, you may have to SLIGHTLY pry it away from the windlace with the putty knife by itself before you try to push the headlining.
Also if you hold onto the edge of the headlining while you are pushing up the material, you can adjust the tension of the headliner as you go. Then AND ONLY THEN, after you are satisfied on how it looks, trim the headlining to leave about 1/2" to 3/4" hanging loose, then stuff that bit into the retainer. There is not a lot of room behind the retainer for a big wad of headlining.
Just went a grabbed a pic of the tool I've used for the past 40 years. It was made from an old putty knife.
