Can you swap spindles from a 3/4 ton suburban onto a 1/2 ton suburban. Both 4x4's. I am wanting to have larger brakes up front for towing. Also, are the parts interchangeable, short of the brakes, of course. Thanks for the help!!

Really don't know on the 4x4 but I can tell you on the 4x2 the upper ball joint size is different so the answer would be no.

If you're worried about the brakes for towing consider the rest of the vehicle's load capacity as well; I'd spend the bucks on a good brake controller and in making sure the existing brake system is in 100% top notch shape, especially adjustment on the rears - don't depend on the automatic adjusters as they often do not work.

Hmmm. Was hoping this would work. Thanks for the input. I'll have to do some more research on options.

It really just depends on how crazy you want to go, how much work you want to do. Like the ball joint situation can be covered by changing out the control arms too, which do bolt into the same pockets. Thing to remember is that the braking system is just that - a system - designed with each part in mind of what its job is; you start mix-and-matching the components and may end up with crummy results.

You may want to take a really hard look at just how much weight you're planning on towing and ask yourself if a 1/2 ton Suburban is up to the job. Could be a great excuse to buy a 3/4 ton Suburban with a 454/4L80E.
