after a overnight rain i noticed accumulation of water inside the cab on the passenger side below the fan? any ideas where to begging checkin

Could be that, but also don't overlook this fairly common cause of a water leak on the passenger side - the screw underneath the corner piece on the wiper cowl:
Not all years in this body style have that screw but it's easy to check for. There's a single screw holding the end piece on; remove that and carefully lift the piece out - it has two tabs locking it in place that you just have to wiggle a little. Then underneath if you find that screw, remove it and put a little sealant on it and re-install.

My '98 was leaking from the upper windscreen seal. windscreen was replace like 3 times over the life of the vehicle. (cracks/chips from road debris)...had developed a bit of rust above the passenger seat too. used a polyurethane roofing sealant from Home Depot...(recommended by windshield guy). it is black went on nicely & now...no more leaks.
