Failed smog check today. Truck had a small fire from previous owner was told everything replaced. Noticed when I got home the EGR Solenoid was slightly melted and no vac line to EGR. Pushed egr and truck wants to stall. Replaced vac line to EGR and engine light came on and truck stalled. Replaced the solenoid and no engine light. (cleared light by disconnecting battery for a few mins)
Truck ran these numbers
15MPH
CO2% 15 - pass
%O2 .3 - pass
HC (ppm) 43 - pass
CO (%) .16 -pass
NO (ppm) 1115 - fail
25MPH
CO2% 15 - pass
%O2 .2 - pass
HC (ppm) 4 - pass
CO (%) .07 -pass
NO (ppm) 774 - fail
Do you think with new solenoid and egr actually hooked up it will pass now?

Welcome to Chevytalk,
New EGR and solenoid certainly can't hurt - just be sure to buy quality brand parts, not the generic one-size-fits-many stuff. The TBI engines (assuming you're a TBI 5.7 or 5.0 since it's got a vacuum EGR) are very picky about the valve. Suggest strongly you get AC Delco or Delphi only. Check our FAQ post at the top of the forum for more info - including proper connection of the vacuum lines. One port on the solenoid is a vent and meant to be open.

Yeah solenoid on there the vent line was melted closed. Maybe why it kicked a engine code when I hooked it up.
New solenoid is a direct fit Borg-Warner. Called around and no Delphi. But I trust BW from past trucks and cars I have had.
Purrs like a kitten and doesnt get over 200. Thermo kicks in and brings it back down.
Going for a pre test in a bit. Gonna run it around and idle for a while to heat the cat up.

An inoperative EGR can definitely cause high NOx due to higher combustion chamber temperatures, so if you've got it working now, you stand a chance to pass. Let us know how you do...

Passed with flying colors.
Side note had my drvr side caliper stick on the way there. Brand new caliper, pads, rotor. Got home after smog lucky only 2 miles away. Jacked it up pumped the brakes and shut off truck opened bleeder valve and fluid shot out. Replaced brake hose and all good now. Going repack the bearings (brand new as well) since they got hot.

Great news! Thanks for posting back.
Be sure to replace the other flex hose too...if one was that bad, the other one isn't far behind.
