Is there any homemade tool for removing the front/rear window trim. Or is buying the tool the absolute best way (well technically it is the best way). I have look/priced the tool if necessary, and I guess I will have to see it to understand how it works.

Make a mistake on this procedure and you WILL buy a new glass..... you do not want to snag the edge of the glass as it will most likely lead to a crack.

That tool will work - but I prefer the KD version which is shaped like a boomerang. This way you can use it right or left handed.
