im not too sure if i need a whole new trans or just need to rebuild it, i have a turbo 350 trans built to handle alot more then it did... 1st, 2nd and reverse still work perfectly fine, just as much power as before, but 3rd (drive) slips and clunks, can anyone tell me what it is?

Make darned sure that the neutral gate is adjusted correctly and that the manual valve is 'snapping' to each position on the rooster comb as it should.

However, I really think that she's gotta come down out of there.

My 'knee-jerk" reaction would be that the intermediate sprague is locked up all the time. This is causing both the second and direct clutches to slip (fighting each other) when in high.

It's "jerking/clunking" because that sprague is 'trying' to freewheel and it can't. Either that or we have a pinion gear/axle going south.

In other words, in high range, the darned thing is binding up in two gears at once.

I think Allen might know what he's talking about.
Five things that you cannot recover in life:

* The Stone after it's thrown
* The Word after it's said
* An Occasion after it's missed
* The Time after it's gone
* A person after they die
