Can anyone get me the correct dimensions between the framerails over the front crossmember? I'm having a hard time getting some new motor mount inserts to fit in my '85 3/4 ton 2WD (w/ 454) stock clamshells, and I'm mildly suspicious that some over-exuberant driving maneuvers (which, at times, "may" have resulted in all four wheels several feet off of the ground) executed as a younger, less married man may have resulted in a mildly taco'd frame.

The increased compliance of the stock rubber v/s the less-forgiving poly seems, to my mind, to be a plausible explanation. Or there's something weird about my truck. But if someone has a truck which hasn't ever left black marks in all four wheel wells (IMHO: particularly impressive with a heavy-haul option'd 3/4 ton suspension and an empty bed), I'd appreciate comparing some dimensions...

Thanks. And no, this was before everyone had video cameras in their phones, so I don't have pictures. :/

I just got a 3 foot length of 7/16 all-thread (and 4 nuts 'n 4 washers), cut that in half, and bolted each half into the engine mounts on the engine, and measured between them. Then I stuck the same all-thread into the frame mounts, and put my ten ton porta power (from Harbor Freight - currently on sale for $179; actually a recommended purchase) between the frame rails, and pushed the top edge of the frame in front of and behind the frame brackets until the measurement was about 1/8" wider than it needed to be. Then when it sprung back, it was very nearly perfect. So, exact measurements of the frame are less important to me now.
