I am building a 1970 c10 with a 454. I am having a terrible time finding headers that we give me the ground clearence I need when I lower the truck. Most of the full length headers I have tried end up being lower than the control arms Any ideas

Try chevelle headers. I know its fairly common on the 73-87 trucks. A lot of the truck headers seem to fit a wide variety of years and the chevelle chassis was pretty standard for a while too. I know it works for the small block anyway so it might be worth looking into.

Have you looked at Hookers? I have Hookers on my 71 K10 with 454. They are tucked up in there pretty high. But I have not seen how Hookers fit on a 2 wheel drive application.

I have a set of Hookers on my 70 c10 with a sbc and they hang lower than I a really wanted. The reason I suggested looking into chevelle headers is because they tuck up higher and the flange is more at like a 45* angle. You can get creative with the pipe work and keep it tucked up in the frame rails. If I had a big block I would probably look into the fender well headers like speed way motors sells and then run my tubing along the outside if the frame rails. There are several options it just depends on what you really want to do how creative you want to get.

The old exhaust on my truck went from the stock manifolds down and under the frame behind the front tires and back. Fairly good idea but the part of the tubing behind thethe tires was bombarded with rocks and road particles that's why I think the fender well headers would be perfect because it would offer more clearance and avoid being under the frame and leave you tons of room between the outside of the frame and the body so you could tuck it up and avoid the parking brake cables and cross member.
