Good info. I believe there is also a similar stepside product now available from them. I know a complete stepside tailgate with that type of support is now available from Mar-K just not sure if you can get the diy version.

I installed a set of these on my 66 fleetside about 9 months ago. The template and instructions were great. Had some trouble cutting the tailgate, but it was mostly the tools that I had available.
Wish the hinges were cables instead, but otherwise the setup went in easy and looks nice.
Tested the tailgate out with 2 grown adults setting on it and it held.
I cut the original chains off the latches and use the hooks to keep the tailgate shut for now.
Next project to use the Mark-K kit to remove the rest of the chain latches.
I don't have any picts right now of the setup.

For anyone interested, I purchased these ford tailgate cables at Autozone. I incorporated them with a tailgate latch system from a Dodge Ram 50 from pull-a-part. It took me about 2 full days to complete this but it fits great and looks very nice. I was only out about $60 bucks for all the parts. The Ram Latch is the perfect depth to fit into the tailgate. I only had to coax it a little with the grinder. To hold it in I welded a coupling nut the inside of the tailgate and polished a stainless screw that goes thru the bottom of the handle under the latch. It took a little work to get the latch rods adjusted to the proper length. The only hard part to me was cutting the holes in the end of the tailgate. I used my plasma cutter and air cutoff tool for this. This definitely not a bolt in mod but It was worth the effort and now my tailgate looks very clean.
Sorry for using the "F" word and the "D" word

Could you send me more information on your tailgate modification with the Dodge latches?
