Recently purchased a 2004 1500 Silverado. Daytime running lights did not work. Thinking bulbs were bad, replaced both and the lights still do not work. I know they do not burn in park, but have checked in drive and still nothing. Any tips, suggestions, or clues as to why they might not be working? Are they on a fuse by themselves as all other lights work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if they are fused by themselves, but I can tell you it's very common for them not to work. The sockets get brittle from the heat and may cause a loss of contact with the bulb elements. I would first pull the bulbs and have someone in the truck in drive with the parking brake off and use a test light to see if you even have power at the sockets and then go from there. If you have power, you either have a socket that is letting the elements no make contact or you have a bad ground, if you have no power, there are other issues (broken power wire, blown fuse if there is one, or the like). For what it's worth, mine don't work on my '99 and I don't miss them. They say they make you more visable to other drivers, but 90% of the other drivers don't even bother to look for other cars anyway these days.

Thank for the help guys. With a test light I found they are not getting power. Since this is the only vehicle I've got that has them, guess I'm not going to worry about tracing the problem to see where it is. I will just not have DRL's. Thanks for all the help.
