I have a Gentleman trying to buy my 1950 216 motor (complete with transmission clutch everything including the oil bath air cleaner) the motor ran great when pulled had 50,00 miles on it at the time was put in the barn when removed still turns over by hand. Anyone have an any idea what to price it at. Thanks

Around here most guys have to give them away. But, if you could get 100 bucks for the whole thing, take the money and run! (just my 2 cents!)

It's worth what somebody will pay you. If they're trying to restore a 216 equipped chevy then it's worth quite a bit to them. How bad do you want to keep it around? The answer to your question probably lies somewhere in between. Trans has got to be worth $75 and the motor has got to be worth $200 if it will run. Problem is that you're trying to sell a unknown if you can't start it now.

I agree, it depends on how badly he needs it. I bought a siezed junker 216 for $50 just for the intake manifold.

Throw out a price and see how he reacts. I am going to haul a running 216 to the steel salvage yard, for doing that I get the clutch, fly wheel, distributor, generator, starter, and carb.

Thanks for your thoughts, this is the original engine and trans out of my car if its only worth the price of scrap I think I'll keep it the #'s and all match my car. Maybe someday someone will want to put the car back to stock. Thanks again
