Homer Simpson moment here - Doh!
I took the rear leaf springs out of my '50 tin woodie, knocked out the crappy old bushings, cleaned them up and made them look pretty, and now it's time to put in new bushings and reinstall the springs and axle but.....
which end goes to the front? The axle locating pin is closer to one end of the spring than the other (i.e., it's NOT in the middle). Does the short "half" go towards the front or rear?
Thanks folks.

I'd say the shortest side from the pin is the front
