I just fired up my SBC that I put into my 50. I used the original oil pressure gauge and my SBC pegged out the gauge. I am assuming the original 6 did'nt put out as much pressure?

Hi Mark -

The Restoration Guide says the 1950 oil pump was rated at 14psi @ 2000 rpm. Here's the reference:

At cold idle your SBC is probably putting out 20lbs or more. At 2000 rpm it should be up around 30 or 40lbs- at least that's what mine does.
