I have a strange phenomenon. In trying to remove the bumpers to begin body work, one of the rear bumper nut/bolts is totally fused with rust; yet when you turn it with a socket, the whole thing turns easy except for the round top which is seated firmly. How is this possible? So basically, one end of the bolt turns freely with the fused nut but the fixed/rounded end is still seated. Are those rounded ends a separate piece that is riveted on or has this bolt sheared off but is somehome stuck in the hole? Very weird! All the other bolts either came out, sheared off, or don't budge at all. I think I'm going to have to have someone cut this one with a torch! Is this normal? P.S. I used the PB Blast penetrant and it worked quite well on some of them...no more WD40 for this noobie!

The nut & bolt are turning as one.....The metal cap over the outside of the bolt is sitting still.

So, are those caps stamped on? I guess I would have thought that was one solid piece like nowadays. That explains it! Torch time indeed...

Be careful...someone used the "heat wrench" on the bolts on my 51 and the bumpers are now trashed...going to have to get new bumpers.

How's it going? I'm Mark nice to meet you, when I removed my bumper guards on my 49, the carriage bolt has a square after the head that actually sat in a squared off seating on the guard which worked as a catch of sorts, me and my buddy busted our butts getting it off it will come off though, if advice means anything if you don't need chrome bolts, I picked up a set of nuts and bolts for like $5.00 for the full set. good luck its a breaker bar, pb blaster, and WD40! Nice to meet you as well
