On my '07 Sierra I am having a problem with the aftermarket, Hopkins 47235, brake controller not turning off when the brake pedal is released. The light on the controller actually stays on and the brakes on two of my trailers will stay activated until I get this light to go off. I only have to tap the brake pedal quickly, and hard to get it to "bounce" back into proper position. I did take it to a reputable brake shop, the examined everything and have not solution. I know this is not a hydraulic actuated unit but am not sure of exactly what activates this unit. Any ideas of what to look for? Thanks, David

Found the problem---Please read: I finally put the driver's seat back and got my old oversized self on the floor to look up under the dash at the brake pedal assembly. Scared the heck out of me. The bolt that connects the shaft of the brake booster to the brake pedal was almost out! ! When I pushed down on the brake pedal with my hand the bolt would "wobble" within the round end of the booster shaft. I tightened it back up and all is working as it should now. I couldn't help but think what IF I had attempted to stop at a red light, or stop sign and the pedal would have went to the floor--NO BRAKES ! Not a pretty thought. Now I'm wondering how many more may be out there.

I'm be looking under the dash of my 2009 GMC tonight.

Did you buy this truck new? Just brainstorming IF there might have been sum warranty work done & a tech left it loose by accident??

I did buy this truck new. The only warranty work on this truck was the replacement of both of the front speakers in the doors. As far as I know there has never been a reason for anyone to have been under the dash working on the brake pedal and assembly. I did take my truck to a local brake/front end shop I use and had them check this same bolt and brake pedal linkage. They had never seen one of these come out either. Luck me at this point.
