    In response to lilrobo

here's 2 ways to go that would have a true "1958" factory connection: find a 283 or 348 Chev V8 w/Powerglide (or Turboglide, what the heck).....or....get a '57 or '58 Chev pickup-type 283 with 4-speed Hydramatic. Either way it remains near stock but much more cool. Just my opinion based upon 40 years working on old Chevs.
