In response to impala dude 831

"why is it that a lot of guys around the bay area, say 58 really ain't a true impala?"

Because they have spent too much time in the bay water and their shorts are too tight.

However the '58 Impala, by looking at the VIN #s is part of the 1700-1800 Bel Air series. The 1700 series being the 6-cyl., the 1800 the 8-cyl. A 1958 V8 Bel Air Sport Coupe is a 1831 an Impala Sport coupe is a 1847.

The '58 Impala is still a stand alone model.
