In response to Vaughn
It is an artifact of the electrical sensor - it just won't zero out like most gauges do. It wasn't uncommon for this to happen when brand new straight from the factory. You can try another sender - take an Ohmmeter with you to the part store and measure the resistance in the store before taking it home.
You don't HAVE TO run a mechanical line into the cab, there are several aftermarket electrical oil pressure gauges (gauge + sender) that will give your an accurate reading.
Mechanical gauges can be quite reliable - as long as you don't use that plastic pressure line that some gauges come with. Only use copper 1/8 inch pressure line - some parts stores sell it as a retrofit "kit" for the gauges that come with the plastic line. I've had that plastic line blow up before, spraying oil all over the engine compartment.
hi Vaughn,
I tried several senders now. Some zero out, some dont. But they all give me strange readings. I have tried 2 replacement sender of Amserican Standards PS154 and I have now tried 2 senders from an electrical gauge I bought through Ebay in England. The shop sent me a replacement sender, because we thought it was broken.
A shop I regularly buy my stuff from will look what mechanical gauges he has for me this morning, because I give up on the electrical stuff...I am 95% sure there is something wrong besides the senders in my electrical stuff I cant find. Some kind of interference. But since all the other electrical stuff works fine:
- e-fan for cooling
- radio-mp3-player
- headlights
- heater fan
- cabin light
- flashers
- etc...
I give up and will switch to mechanical..thanks for the tip on the tubing...will look into that.
