Then taillights do not run through the turn signal wiring. Only the turn signal/brake lights do. So if your turn signal assembly is loose you have two separete problems.

One method of removing the steering wheel is (not approved by most of the members) to loosen the nut on the steering wheel, (DO NOT REMOVE THE NUT). then plant your feet on the floorboard, grab both sides of the steering wheel and pull hard side to side. This will loosen most any steering wheel. Once it is loose remove the nut completely and remove the steering. The reason it is not the approved method is because it may crack the plastic on the steering wheel.

The approved methpod is to use a steering wheel puller; usually availble at Autozone on loan for free...

Oops.... Before removing the steering wheel mark it and the post so you can replace the wheel in the exact location you removed it from. I usually use a small chisel which leaves a permenent mark.
