I notice that you are using the standard oil filter. On my Sub I use the heav-duty 2 quart filter (mine is 2wd). It will stick below your oil pan, but it will be way above your axle. It is almost twice as tall as your present filter.

The Fram # is PH373 (just remember that 373 is the perfect axle ratio). You may be able to cross-over the filter number to something in your area. The last filter that I'd ever use is a Fram. The STP filter has the same number on it. I don't remember who makes the STP filter, but they are a reputable brand.
