It's always nice to solve a problem like that and feel better about the car. I had that with my El Camino. I never knew when the starter would go south. It was adjusted correctly as far as not binding or spinning after startup. But I kept chewing up starters. Nothing looked wrong with the flexplate, but I changed it anyway and the problem went away. Unfortunately the flexplate cracked later on and started making noise. I still have it in the car right now since I hardly drive it right now.
