Its no more difficult on the vortec then any other SBC, basically the same. It could be other things but if you can rule this common fault by checking for vacuum. If you have vacuum in the crank case then it is the gasket. The problem with the vortec is that they used a plastic gasket with rubber o ring and the plastic melts/warps over time.
