First of all, does your radiator have a trans cooler built in? If so, that's typically enough unless you have a high stall speed converter or do towing. If not, I'd call these guys for advice. Here's what I installed on my pickup back when it had a 2200 RPM stall converter. It's a B&M stacked plate model. It's plumbed in after the radiator, as I recall, and still gets too hot to touch, so I plan to keep it connected.
If you don't have room to place one behind the grille, there are several kits that include cooler and electric fan.
BTW, I once owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee with optional aux trans cooler. I was literally extra tubing that made a couple passes in front of the radiator! I guess every little bit lowers the fluid temp.
