Yup, same symptom I had, the occasional no-start. Replaced several ignition components while trying to find the culprit.

Did the bypass (thanks to the site and the link explaining the task!) to get the truck running but have noticed the sluggishness and seemingly worse gas mileage since. Retained the orig distributor and all other components, but adjusted ignition timing to get the timing mark reding right Have since purchased a new ESC module, but have not re-connected the system yet.

When I think how close I was to dumping the truck at the height of this problem, ugh. Glad I stuck with it.
