    In response to DonSSDD

The over-center spring is harder to push at first while the clutch is easier to push. As the pedal get to about half travel of its arc it is a straight pull so no effect on pedal pressure other than friction in the bushings. After that is pulls the pedal down lessening the amount of effort needed to push the cluth pedal down the rest of the way. Without that spring it's all leg power.
