A few years ago I got word of a low mileage '63 Impala in a Barn outside of town that might be for sale cheap... So I drove out to go see it. The car was sold even before I saw it just based on price alone. $1500 for a running two door hardtop!
I get to the barn and here was this black '63 with a 327 and powerglide. Love at first sight. She had been sitting there for over 20 years, being fired up every year or so just to idle for 5 minutes. The owner explained to me that it was on its way to be crushed when he got word of it- he bought it for scrap. There it sat for 20 years.
She was rough... but complete. It ran, we fired it up through a gas can and I drove it out of the barn!
