Go with a truck based LS motor like a 5.3 or a 6.0...They are less expensive, generally, than the LS1/LS2/LS3, etc and will do a great job on your '58. Try to get the engine, trans, computer from a salvage unit so you will have everything that you need. Use Hooker or similar mount plates to bolt small block V-8 mounts to the motor and small block mounts for the chassis for a '58!! You're in!!
