Is anyone aware of any 62-65 409 motors that were rated <300 HP? I have my 409/425 (or so I thought when bought at auction).
I have my 63-409 at a repair shop and am being told this particular motor although it's a true 409, the HP rating is ~250 HP. Apparently he's looked up some of the engine ID's, (casting ID's??) and determined this is a "dealer replacement motor" from the mid 60's?
Something sounds "weird" aboout this and I was hoping to gain some additional knowledge prior to picking up the car on Monday.
alot of guys in late 60's would swap the oil pans on the 348 motor to make it look to be a 409. the only real diff . on looks was dip stick on had on the passanger side the other the drivers side
