Think of that oil like a 2-stroke engine. The lubrication flows with the gas/liquid like a mist.

Put a couple of oz in the compressor and hook everything up. Then immediately another 2 oz in the low side port.

Put in ONE pound of freon. This will get the compressor cycling albeit quickly. Add another 4 oz of oil.

Then add the rest of the freon (probably another pound or two, depending on your system).

Hold your hand on that receiver. When it gets to the point of being painful to hold, you're full.
