I had forgotten about another story. The same guy that had the Firebird had a Caravan that he had had the engine replaced at one time. He was changing the oil in that at work once and I saw hime struggling to tighten the oil filter. He said that the nipple for the oil filter was too long and when the filter would normally be tight, it didn't touch the block yet, so he had to tighten it even more and collapse the inside of it to get it to seal to the block.
