I have a question regarding to bracket that clutch and brake pedals attach too. Are these the same brackets used in both cases? Or was there two different brackets used in each depending on automatic or manual. I suspect they are the same but not sure. I really like your web site have learned much information from it especially your reference section have found very informative. Thank you Sincerely, sidsoh9

please read

My dad has a 1957 Chevy Bel Air that he bought the year I was born (1987). The car was in running condition and became his hobby and passion. He had begun the process of restoring it when he got seriously hurt at work and was forced to retire. All work on his car stopped as he encountered physical and financial problems due to his injury, retirement, and inability to ever work again.

When I was twelve years old, I began writing to various auto-related companies asking for help. To my surprise, I received quite a response! Many companies offered services and parts to help complete my dad’s car and make his dream of restoring it come true. Although he couldn’t physically work on the car, he guided me.

Growing up, it was a great bonding experience for my father and I to work on it together. I even received a “Do the Right Thing” award from our local police department for my effort to raise support from auto companies for my dad.
Several years later, we were contacted by another company who received who offered to finish the restoration. They picked up the car and reassured us that it would be fully restored when presented back to us.

We truly believed that my dad’s dream was becoming a reality. Unfortunately, that was now nearly five years ago. We got notice that their support had fallen through and they would no longer be able to help. My father was devastated.

Like many, we are on limited budgets and finding the money to ship the car to another garage or to even bring it back home would be a stretch. I just want to get my dad’s car back home for him and maybe, if at all possible, come up with some funds to get the car restored and back in driving condition for him. I know it would make him so happy just to be able to drive it again.

My dad has taught me more about life than anyone else. He shows me by example that it’s not about whether you fall down, but how many times you get back up that count. He never quits in the face of adversity, and is a constant source of inspiration in my life. My dad is my hero.

As a fundraising effort for my dad, I will be running the Buffalo Marathon this coming May and I have also registered to run back-to-back days of the Buffalo Tough Mudder on July 27th and 28th. Please consider checking out our fundraiser. For us, it’s not just a car–it’s like an extension of the family. It’s been with us for over 25 years and being able to have it completed for him would be incredible.
