Past projects were sleeves for crank hub to use a different pilot bearings and clutch slave shims for my T56 conversion. Next is a crank trigger wheel mount. With gas prices and only using the truck for hunting and wanting to give the truck a good going over I was in no hurry to get it back on the road. When I did it had a new carb, intake, distributor and all the trimmings where it should have gone right through emissions with no problem. That wasn't the case. Twice it failed and a third time it passed by just one point.

Between 90 and 100 miles on the engine it overheated. I pulled off, let it cool, added water and drove it another 5 miles to my home. Once getting there I pulled the plugs to do a compression test. As soon as I started cranking the engine water shot out the plug holes for number 5 and 7. I had already had so many go rounds with the owner of the company, Chris of what was suppose to be but never was and that favorite line of his "State of the Art" I pulled the head planning to change the gaskets on both.

I could have used a pair of pliers to remove half the head bolts on the left head and after pulling it my job was done. Across the block between numbers 5 and 7 was 'ditch'.050" deep, as wide as my little finger, less than 100 miles, and 3 days out of warranty.

I went round and round with Chris and trier every means at my disposal to have him make it right and got nowhere. The one thing I did do is file a report on Five Star Engine and Heads at ripoff.com. The first one filed against the company.

I went back to ripoff.com a couple of months ago and mine being the only report is no longer the case. From paying to performance and getting less, a lot less to the guy who built him a web page in exchange for an engine he never got and everything in between.

Chris tried blowing me off saying it was caused from a lean mixture. If the engine went 20,000 miles on a lean mixture maybe but I believe it was more due to J.B. Weld failure. I still e-mail Chris from time to time telling him to save me a parking place that I can display his 'state of the art' workmanship I hope this helps somebody from getting taken by this dishonest &#%@ #&@^*#.

King of Trims?

Anyone of you had business with King Of Trims in Calfornia?
keep in mind I have trouble getting up and down off the mechanics creeper due to some serious previous injuries, and that alone slows me down a good deal.
yes I have a lift and ( 6) 12 ton jack stands ,I set the (4) 12 ton jack stands I used,

to support the corvette,so the stands on nearly the highest lockable height, would provide a good deal of useable room so I could use a mechanics creeper for access, I used the stands, because I found the lift arms on my 2 post lift would prevent or at least make it more difficult to install the side mount headers, so I used the lift to lift the corvette up and then slid the extended jack stands under the car, and lowered the lift so the car sat on the stands and the positions the (4) 12 ton jack stands under the cars front frame and rear differential leaving the side access far clearer, this allowed me to install the headers on both sides from below with zero issues,I used a few feet of 12 lb mono-filament fish line to tie the exhaust gasket in place to the header flange, to make installing the gasket far easier..I then used the supplied small head ,header bolts and a 3/8" ratcheting wrench on the bolts
