Saturday, drove the blazer home from work like always. this thing has 204k miles and has been working like a charm. no unusual engine lights or issues.

Parked the blazer on saturday afternoon. went out this morning, and engine cranks, but does not fire up. Sprayed starter fluid into the TB, fires up for all of about 3 or 4 seconds, then quits. (the injectors are not squirting fuel)

i noticed that the service engine soon light is not on.

pull out the manual this evening (factory service manual for this make and model) and started running down the tests of why this isnt working.

I have eliminated the following:
1)SES light is good (tore the instrument cluster apart)
2)checked fuses for ECM1 and ECMB (as listed on the fuse panel) and both fuses are good.
3)probed for hot TO ecm, and ground continuity. both are good.
4)checked power to instrument cluster, and continuity, everything is good there.
5)swapped out the Fuel pump Relay, no change.

Im leaning towards ECM Failure, but i need to know two things before i commit to buying an ECM and throwing money i dont have at this problem.

IF the ECM is bad, and i swap it, does it have to be flashed considering it's an OBD1 vehicle?

and second, is there any other tests to determine what is going on with this thing?

I would greatly appreciate your guys' help on this. this is my daily driver, and it makes it hard to go to work if i dont have reliable transportation.... plus, I look ridiculous on a bike....

thanks!

tranmission

can any tell me what tranny 1987 s10 4.3 auto.and if bolt in a 1988 s10 2.5 auto. thanks

S-10 rear end information

I have a drum brake year end out of an S-10 Blazer 4x4, but I don't know what year or ratio and don't have the truck. Is there a stamp code on these rear ends similar to the older car rear ends? If so, where is it located. This is fairly rusty, so I want to make sure I don't grind something off in my cleaning efforts. We marked the gear and rotated the pinion and it looks to be in the 3.4x-3.5x area. It's going into a 51 Chevy coupe project car. I'm going to be in need of brake parts, so were the drum brake rear ends all the same from a brake parts perspective on these S-10's?

Note I'm a brake and suspension tech so my knowledge of underhood repair is limited at best,

My G/F's 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.5L V6 2WD 5 spd stick is starting to run rather hot and once the temp gauge gets much past the 1/2 mark, the AC quits blowing cold. Yes; both the electric pusher and mechanical fans remain on; however, unbeknownst to me, the pusher was disconnected so I plugged it back in. Truck has about 115K miles on it.

I 'hit' the upper and lower radiator hoses with a temp gun and the upper is ca. 190F (200F at the radiator proper by the upper hose) with the lower coolant pipe about 150F or thereabouts. I suspect thermostat which is where the lower coolant pipe goes back into the motor but want to make reasonably sure before I start throwing parts at this thing.

What does concern me is a possible blown head gasket

2nd fuse box

I just snagged me a 1991 s10 blazer.
