We bought it new with 154 miles on it.

In Sept. 23, 2011, Monte's first cylinder began to misfire and Monte had 40,992 miles. The rings were stuck in such a way that it allowed oil to spew into the first cylinder, thus ruining the spark plug and piston. The piston, rings, and gaskets were replaced in the first cylinder.

One year later at a regular oil change, no oil read on the dipstick. Our reputable mechanic said to contact our dealer and take Monte in -- 49,036 miles on it. Diagnosed with the now famous oil consumption problem. So, per the #11-06-01-007 bulletin, the oil pan gasket was replaced and warrantied for 2,000 miles.

First oil change after this fix was at 2,752 miles from when the oil pan gasket was replaced and no issues. Second oil change, no read on the dipstick and it was 2,367 miles since the last oil change. Back to the dealership Monte goes for now the third time for the same issue.

GM's recommendation this time, is to replace all gaskets in the pistons and many other things on the engine. We were given three options:

1. Have the fix performed and pay $500 and GM will pay $2300.

2. Replace the engine, which is more than $5,000 and GM will pay $2300 of it.

3. Trade in our Monte and GM will give us an additional $2,000 credit.

I have contact the GM customer service line and have a Rep. So far, I have not been impressed with the service I have received from GM. I explained everything to the Rep and told her that we feel GM should do the right thing and replace the engine.

It is quite clear from my recent research of this problem that GM has known about this particular issue with the 5.3L engine and the fixes they recommend do not work. It is my belief that GM should stand behind their product and reputation and replace the engine at no charge to us!

We are deeply disappointed in Chevrolet and General Motors!

I am asking for any information anyone can give me regarding this latest fix. Is there a chance that it does work?

Thank you in advance for any information you give me.

2009 Malibu - PROBLEMS!

Hi...having some issues with my car I'm hoping someone out there can help with.

#1 I've been told my battery is good, but every so often I have to jump start the car. And for sure, if I leave the door open cleaning the car or lock the car with the key fob or don't shut the radio off while the car is off, it drains the battery and I have to jump it. I may go 50 to 100 starts just fine, and then it just clicks/blinks and I have to jump start it. Called the dealer and they didn't know....would have to get it diagnosed which isn't cheap

#2 is that the key fob doesn't even work right. I can lock the doors, but it won't unlock them. Tried changing the batteries and that didn't work.

#3 is my back drivers side blinker. Again, this is something that is intermittent. Each time I use the blinker, I don't know what will happen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The inside blinker blinks fast like a light is burnt out and the back light doesn't light up. But then it starts working again!

#4 just today...I am getting a "service tire" light, but it's not tire pressure. What else could it be?

I am having so many issues with this car and it's not that old! only 70,000 miles. Very dissapointed Anyone have these issues? Help?

Thank you!

Traction control/ ABS

Today the ABS was activated when I was coming to a slow stop. (25mph) As I drove the ABS light came on, the traction control turned off, and the service traction control light came on. I took it to a garage, they said it had an ABS code. The right front wheel hub was replaced a little over a year ago by the same garage. Sensor maybe? Recently, I had to replace the ignition lock cylinder, but the ignition switch wasn't replaced. The car does start and I can drive it without issue; however, the security system light stays on and doesn't go out. It doesn't blink, always a solid light. I set the ignition to on for 10 minutes, off for two minutes, set to on again for another 10 minutes and off for two. I did this for a maximum of thirty minutes (three times). I would have thought the car would get used to the new key with the new ignition lock cylinder, but the security system light remains on solid and stays on the entire time. I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

03 Impala Shakes When Stopping And Accelerating

Still waiting on a response from someone on my last post but this is another issue that I don't think is related so...

My 03 Impala 3.8 Runs and drives great but when you break it starts to shake a little right as your coming to a stop. It doesn't do it while breaking at high speeds or when breaking at all until the car is at a very low speed and about to stop. It also does it however when you take your foot off of the breaks and start to accelerate but once you get up 5-10 MPH it stops.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the rotors because it basically only does it when your foot starts to go all the way down on the break and then right when you're taking your foot off the break. Anyone have any ideas?
