I noticed the trans that's still in this has a big can with some hoses on it and a rod attached into the shift linkage. I vaguely recall Chevy having some kind of assisted shift or semi-automatic shift deal in 1940-41. Could that be what I am looking at here? Is it worth saving? I can post a picture given a chance to upload it somewhere.

WTB: 1934 Master Radiator

I need a radiator or the top and bottom tanks, in very good condition, for a 1934 Chevrolet Master.

serial number and registration

After my first trip to the DMV, Ive managed to pencil rub the remains of the serial number on my 41. Ive gotten all of the numbers except the very last number in the production sequence. Oh so close! 429.? I was thinking of calling GM vintage services to see if they could help-as it is now DMV would not let me register the car since there is no title and vin number was not legible. Perhaps GM has some records of something like that. DMV said I have to go to highway patrol and get a verification certificate that it is a legitimate car. I think I suprised them not having any paper trail whatsoever on the car! The car has an old tag from New Hampshire where it was last registered in 69. No real help there because there is no registration information, but the envelope it came it does have a number on it...Anyone had a similar experience and had sucess getting your ride registered?

Carb Help 31 Updraft

Helping my dad here on his 31. We were having carb issues, so i took his spare home to rebuild. No biggie, I've done lots of carbs, but nothing this old. I'm at the point of reassembly but the pump jet is my question. I've taken it apart to clean and the instructions say not to loose the ball inside...well there is no ball in this one. The rebuild kit does have a steel ball included, but not having one to compare to to verify it's the correct ball I don't want to put it in and have it wrong. The ball measures .126 so approx an 1/8". If this is not the correct size, does anyone know what is?
I will be running 295/50 R15 on 10" wide Crager SS on the rear and I'm trying to figure out what to run on the front. This is on a street rod style 1940 Buick Super Coupe ('78 Nova clip). I'd like to run R14's on the front but was wondering what some of your rides look like. Just need a few pics with tire sizes to see if what I'm thinking will look right. Thanks in advance for the help!
