I have stock suspension on a 57 chevy 2door hardtop and want to buy custom wheels. I would like the rear wheels to be a little wider than the front. What is the widest size rear wheel that will fit between the leaf springs and fender without any modifications? What backspace will give me the most lip on the wheel with a stock rear end? If you have pictures, please post them. Thanks

I don't know if it's the widest wheel that will fit but I had 17x8 Coy's C-5's with 4 1/2" backspace on the back of my '57 with a 255/55/17 tire and I had no clearance issues. I have heard that a 9" wheel will fit but the 8" is more commonly available.
