Hey folks, got an interesting situation. Driving down the highway, cruise on, a/c on, stereo on, all of a sudden a jerk, cruise goes off, everything else keeps working. Look down and the instrument cluster is acting like the ignition was turned off and back on, lights are doing the cycle. Truck never quit running. As soon as the ignition cycle is complete cruise will set. I know this is a chevy talk site but mine is a 2000 GMC Yukon Denali. Just got this truck and really like it, planning on using it to tow our Dutchman Lite camper. Any help would be appreciated. |

Welcome to Chevytalk, Check the easy stuff first - it sounds like it's momentarily losing connection. These trucks have dual positive battery cables sandwiched together at the single terminal on the battery, with a lead spacer between. Over the years these become a real source of trouble. Corrosion also sets up and hides under the plastic/rubbery coverings on the terminals. Most people end up throwing the spacer away, cutting the covering away from the terminal ends so they can be thoroughly cleaned, and using a short regular bolt to re-attach the ends now that the factory battery bolt is too long without the spacer. If not that, could be faulty ignition switch; not the physical key tumbler portion but the electrical portion inside the column. A little pricey and a bit of work to replace, so start with the battery connections first. Also, your 2000 Denali is the "old" (GMT400 series, 1988-1998 family) of trucks - a carryover model - you might pop into the 88-98 fullsize truck section of Chevytalk as that group of guys is more used to dealing with the issues on these models. And as far as the Chevy/GMC thing, no need to sweat it, they're the same vehicle and you're 100% welcome here. ![]() Richard
