anyone know the cam specs in a stock 400sbc. im looking for a mild cam but cant find the stock specs to go off of so im kinda lost here |

im gonna guess they just tossed a 350 cam in there. when you get serious about buying a cam call the cam makers and get their opinion.

Yeah, it's probably very similar to, if not the same as, a 350 cam. The 400 was made for torque in heavy vehicles. I found a spec on the Internet where the 1974 model made 150HP at 3200 RPM and 295 lb/ft torque at 2000 RPM. What type car is the engine in? How about carb, exhaust and axle ratio?

You can find truck HP numbers here: http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml A new cam will be limited to engine heads and intake. You can buy a intake cam combo. Upgrade the heads for significang gains. Vortec '96+ heads with a matched cam and intake will turn the truck into a nice street and mud machin.
